Dr. Erica Washington McDonald

Founder and Executive Director
Dr. Erica Washington McDonald is a great great granddaughter of Booker T. Washington, carrying forward a rich legacy that continues to inspire generations.

She is diligently rebranding and building upon the solid foundation laid by her ancestor, who was a trailblazer in education and self-improvement for African Americans. Committed to fostering a brighter future, she continues his mission of service by encouraging others to pursue strong character and education, whether informal or formal, believing that knowledge is the key to empowerment.

Through community workshops, motivational speaking engagements, and mentorship programs, Dr. McDonald aims to instill a sense of pride and responsibility, inspiring them to embrace their heritage while striving for excellence in all their endeavors.

Meet the Team

Angela Bourrage, Chairwoman

Angela Bourrage is a seasoned educator with 17 years of teaching experience across various levels. Additionally, she is a dedicated volunteer who firmly believes in empowering communities through education, actively engaging in programs that uplift underprivileged groups and promote access to quality learning resources. As a recipient of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) Scholar award, she is wholeheartedly committed to nurturing gifted learners, recognizing their unique potential and ensuring they receive the educational opportunities they deserve.

Atty. Randy E. McDonald, Co-VP

Randy McDonald is a highly skilled attorney with over 15 years of experience in the legal field, during which he has built a solid reputation for his dedication and expertise. Mr. McDonald is committed to providing personalized, attentive service to each of his clients, ensuring that they feel heard and supported throughout their legal journey. He is passionate about ensuring that each client receives the justice they deserve, he is known for his relentless advocacy and unwavering integrity.

Brandy McDonald Johnson, Public Relations Representative

Brandy McDonald- Johnson is an alumna of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Multimedia Journalism and a minor in Public Relations. She believes that writing is a key piece of communication, and that giving everyone a voice is important- no matter who they are or where they come from!

In August 2022, she joined Achieve Atlanta, the largest need-based scholarship initiative in the Southeast United States, as the Manager, Marketing and Communications. She leads their social media and digital marketing, manages external events, and much more. As a community service enthusiast, she wholeheartedly believes in people’s ability to drive change within their community.

Edith Charles, Secretary

Edith Washington Charles is the great-granddaughter of the esteemed Booker T. Washington and proudly serves as the acting matriarch of her family, carrying on a legacy of empowerment and education. As a graduate of Tuskegee University in 1966, she deeply values the importance of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in shaping the lives of young African Americans.

With a strong commitment to fostering a love for learning and a sense of cultural pride, Edith is dedicated to encouraging the next generation to embrace their heritage, understand the struggles and triumphs of their ancestors, and continue the pursuit of academic excellence, ensuring that the values of resilience and determination remain alive in her family for years to come.
